This is my story

 

Running a lit mag in high school—while refusing to read assigned books—set the stage for what came next. Taking solo journeys across the U.S. in search of stories to tell, led me to unexpected intellectual discoveries, like Sanskrit and permaculture. I've become the ultimate scrapper of interest-based learning—sidestepping traditional tracks like a jig no syllabus could stifle.

As The Music Mentor, I empower kids and adults alike as Pathfinders to break free from rigidity and build flexible structures that channel their brilliance into innovative projects—like what college should be, but for folks with imagination. With music often as the starting point, like training wheels, my students start to choose their own adventure in way that's as fun as it is transformative.

 

As an educator, published author, and MFA student with a vision for small, farm based learning communities, I make education as adaptable and alive as life itself. Every lesson I teach is a blank canvas, where we zoom in on details and zoom out to see the big picture—guided by interest and welcoming discovery. Because when learning is organic, you need only to harness infinity to emerge as a Pathfinder.
